On this page you can find much information about staying over in the winter period, between beginning of november and end of March and other long-term holidays.

LAGOS DOS DESCOBRIMENTOS IS THE SLOGAN OF THE CITY; " LAKES OF THE DISCOVERIES", come and discover Lagos with its beauty and tremendous possibilities. If you want pieceand quiet or if you want entertainment and action, it is al there in Lagos.

+ All 4 our apartments are on the ground and have their own independent entry. So you don't have anything to do with other guests. There are no stairs * and no thresholds present. This is especially conveniant and easy for eldery people and those who have difficulties with walking. The apartments are "wheel-chair-friendly" but not especially adapted for this purpose (the doors in Portugal are generally somewhat narrower, this also applies in our "casas"). (* only apartment 4 has two steps at the frontdoor / entrance as an exception.)

+ all our apartments are very tidy and clean and abundantly provided with everything you need; from glasses to crockery and cutlery, from pots & pans to a pair of scissors,etc. etc. They are very suitable for a long term stay.

+ every apartment has an unique topic, but all are attractive and sociably arranged. "I feel myself immediately at home" is a frequently made observation of our guests, and that's just what we want to give you: a temporary home in a nice surrounding.

+ You can choose from total care (cleaning etc.) or just rent the apartment without any extras, see below.

We can make you an ALL-IN price per month (= 4 weeks) with everything included. This means:

+ all use of gas-, water- en electricity, so including heating costs (supposing you use approx. 1 gasbottle per week for heating)

+ 1 x per week clean bedlinnen and a small cleaning (bathroom, toilet and kitchen) and 2 x a week clean towels

+ 2 x per week you can do a free laundry with our machines, ioning has to be done by yourself (ion and ioringboard are supplied)

+ 30 minutes per day free internet/email, so you can easily stay in contact with relatives and friends abroad

+ family and friends can call and fax you through our domestic telephone number. This is much cheaper than calling to a cellphone.

+ Free use the pool-table, darts, table football, table tennis, many games , swimming pool, etc.

+ You can always come upstairs to us for a talk, a question or information. We are always there. If you don't have your own transportation we can bring you and pick you up again for just a small amount. Or doing the groceries together, arrange a hairdresser or medical assistance or home-care or special appliances, or ..........

+ Use of the apartment, all expenses for (hot) water and electricity, but heating has to be paid by yourself (separate bottles with gas cost appr. 17,= each.

+ cleaning of the apartment is done by yourself even as the laundry (one wash costs Euro 5,= in our machine). Or you can go to a laundry in town (close-by) wich will cost appr. 15 'till 25 Euros including ioning.

+ 30 minutes per day free internet/email, so you can easily stay in contact with relatives and friends abroad

+ Free use the pool-table, darts, table football, table tennis, many games , swimming pool, etc.

We also can have a look for you which flight is the most interesting for you (booking is still done by yourself). In short: the difference is our personal care and attention we give to our guests. Becauase we REALLY want YOU TO HAVE A GOOD TIME and we do our utmost to achieve that. This is greatly rewarded by our guests as you can read in our "guestbook", in which our guests can write comments, remarks, tips and nice stories concerning their holiday, nice places and restaurants to visit, etc.......

+ colortelevision via satelite with about 200 television channels and about 200 radiochannels, all in topquality. If you pay an extra Euro 10,= per week you can get Canal+ which brings international movies on 3 channels 24 hours-a-day. For just a small amount you can also rent a videoplayer and lend a few videos from us (for free) or rent from one of the videostores in the city.

+ We can offer you fast broadband-internet (24 hours/day) in your apartment for just Euro 10,= per week. You can also use our internet-computer U kunt per dag gratis 30 minuten internetten en emailen. Ook is het mogelijk om voor 10,= per week een ADSL-lijn in Uw appartement te krijgen. Dan kunt U met Uw eigen PC of laptop continue inloggen op het wereldwijde net. Handig als U voor Uw werk, hobby of vrije tijd veel met internet doet, of 't eens wilt leren en verkennen.

+ Er is een boodschappenwagentje aanwezig. Zo kunt U op Uw gemak te voet naar de dichtbij gelegen supermarkt Uw inkopen gaan doen.

+ We hebben in totaal 4 dames- en 4 herenfietsen. Tegen een kleine vergoeding kunt U hiervan gebruik maken, of voor 10,= per week kunt U een fiets pakken wanneer U maar wilt.

+ Voor overwinteraars, ouderen en minder-validen is het goed om te weten dat wij kontakt hebben met de Nederlandse Stichting Thuiszorg in de Algarve. Zij kunnen U helpen met attributen (rollator, loopstokken, e.d.) maar kunnen ook hulp verlenen in Uw appartement (verzorging, koken, wassen e.d.). Dus mocht er onverhoopt iets gebeuren, dan hoeft U Uw vakantie niet af te breken. Ook vervoer van en naar een ziekenhuis kunnen we gemakkelijk regelen. Tevens kunnen wij dit soort dingen al vantevoren regelen, zodat U net als in Nederland wat hulp krijgt. Een hele geruststelling toch ? Wij wijzen U de weg naar de juiste NL instanties om zo gratis (of tegen een zeer lage vergoeding) thuiszorg op Uw vakantie-adres te verkrijgen.

+ Er is dus letterlijk NIETS meer dat U tegenhoudt om hier een HEERLIJKE VAKANTIE door te brengen. Zelfs in de wintermaanden schijnt hier dagelijks de zon; de Algarve is niet voor niets de regio met de MEESTE ZONNE-UREN IN EUROPA ...!! De afgelopen winter bijvoorbeeld (eind 2003/begin 2004) hebben we tussen begin november en eind maart totaal zo'n 7 dagen regen gehad. Kom daar maar eens om in Nederland ! En om U helemaal over de streep te trekken, vermelden we hier de gemiddelde dagtemperatuur in de maanden:

november: 18 graden ; tussen 10 en 16 uur is het meestal nog zo'n kleine 20 graden

december: 16 graden ; Kerstmis met 21 graden dit afgelopen jaar ! Meerdere uren per dag is het heel vaak rond de 18 á 19 graden

+ Als Gast van Casa da Palmeira kunt U onbeperkt gebruik maken van onze voorzieningen: poolbiljart, tafeltennis, darten, kaartspellen, trampolines, sjoelen, veel gezelschaps-spellen, dam- en schaakborden, zwembad.

+ Als U bezoek over wilt laten komen tijdens Uw vakantie, dan rekenen wij hiervoor slechts €. 5,= per persoon per dag. (Van tevoren opgeven is verplicht). Dus als U 2 kinderen voor een weekje te logeren hebt, kost dat slechts €.70,= extra)....... hebben zij ook een goedkope vakantie, of niet soms ?? En dan mogen zij meteen van alles gebruik maken natuurlijk !

Als U geen problemen hebt met een "eindje" auto rijden, dan kunt U met Uw eigen auto vanuit Nederland deze kant op komen. Doe 't dan op Uw gemak en trek er een paar dagen voor uit ('t is wel 2500 km rijden namelijk....). Zo wordt de reis ook al een vakantie. Het voordeel is dan dat U over een eigen auto beschikt gedurende Uw verblijf in de Algarve. Wel zo handig. Maar het is zeker geen noodzaak om hier een auto te hebben. Natuurlijk kunt U (af en toe) een auto huren (wij weten goede én goedkope adressen.....), maar er zijn ook andere manieren:

Casa da Palmeira bevindt zich aan de rand van het stadje Lagos, de grote supermarkten bevinden zich op 400 en 600 meter afstand en dat is tevens de afstand waarna de winkels, restaurants, cafeetjes en coffeeshops met terrasjes beginnen. Dus te voet kunt al overal terecht.

Wij hebben een bushalte precies voor onze deur, dus zo komt U gemakkelijk overal waar U wezen wilt en de bus is niet duur. Dichtbij en verderaf is mogelijk. Wilt U bijvoorbeeld een dag naar de Spaanse plaats Sevilla, dat kost slechts 17,= , dat zijn nog leuke prijzen, niet dan ?

Ook hebben wij fietsen staan, waar U tegen een kleine vergoeding gebruik van kunt maken. Ook fietstassen zijn voorhanden. Er zijn 5 stranden in de directe omgeving, het dichtst bij is Praia Porte de Mos (ca. 1100 m.) en Praia Dona Ana (schitterend ! op 1200 m.) en iets verder Praia da Batatas, Meia Praia (onze favoriet !) en Praia da Luz.

Uiteraard zijn er ook taxi's die U voor €. 5,= overal in de stad kunnen afzetten.

Treinen zijn in Lagos voorhanden, vanaf het eigen station van Lagos kunt U gemakkelijk en goedkoop naar andere plaatsen reizen (Bijv. naar Faro voor slechts €.5,=).

Wij zijn heel vaak bereid om U tegen een kleine vergoeding met onze eigen Ford-bus ergens af te zetten en op te halen. Zo kunt U een lekker stuk gaan wandelen in Uw eigen tempo, of de natuur in gaan, of op het strand, of een museum, kerk of stadje bezoeken........ heerlijk toch !

We speak English, German, Dutch, French and right now we are learning to speak Portugese. With the English language you can manage yourself in the Algarve perfectly, because most of the Portuguese speak it too. Especially the outspoken friendlyness of the people here is what strikes us. And the Portuguese really take the time to do things. Those are characteristics that we also want to give to our guests. (Of course if you prefer to be on your own that's no problem at all.)
